About us

The Bank was founded as a joint venture bank in March 1973 and incorporated under the name „MHB Mitteleuropäische Handelsbank AG Deutsch-Polnische Bank“. The joint-venture partners were Bank Handlowy w Warszawie S.A., Warsaw Poland and Hessische Landesbank, Frankfurt a. M. / Germany.

The bank holds a full banking license.

Initial business focus was placed on promoting trade financing between Germany and Poland. During 1994, Norddeutsche Landesbank, Hannover joined as additional equity investor, successively increasing it’s stake to 100% of the capital until 2002.

In May 2005, 100% of the capital was acquired by LSF5 MHB Investment (Germany) L.P., Delaware / USA, a company belonging to the US-Investor Lone Star Funds.

Following this transaction, the Bank was renamed as MHB-Bank AG.
